We have a very nice, new pool at the Lynnwod Rec Center. It is open late and we like to go in the evening when nobody is there. There are 2 separate pools so all of the swimmers are elsewhere. This pool has a great kid's play area, a lazy river with a current that moves you along and ends in a whirlpool, and 2 big slides that twist outside of the building and come back in. I bought a camera cover for $20 that our little digital camera fits inside of and becomes waterproof!
There are some videos in the slideshow. If it is slow to open here, trying clicking to open & view the web album.

Muffins!
Zoe got out of her bath and I was making pumpkin-cranberry muffins and so she got HER cookbook [Better Homes and Gardens Jr Cookbook from Grandpa] and started flipping through it for something that we could make. I told her we could make the French Toast, Hot Cocoa, or Muffins. She asked what was inside of the muffins recipe and I told her 'jelly' but we could use chocolate chips. She does not like jelly. Weirdo. She did a great job helping me measure the ingredients and stirred them all together. They look pretty good!

Pirate-Artist by morning, firefighter by afternoon...
Every pirate needs a parrot.
Especially one drawn on a nice sheet of 120 lb cold-pressed watercolor paper.
We went to Carleton Farms last weekend and found some pumpkins in a field.
Zoe drew a pirate face on this - I think that's a patch with the string going around... She was so excited that she could just draw a face without having to carve it; since I won't commit to carving them just yet.

The turtle is here!
Zoe saw this turtle at the store and I would not buy it for her which was... not fun... but I told her that we could "put it on the list" for her birthday. At first this worked, but she knows that her birthday is not happening right now, so instead she told me that she "sent a note to grandpa" about the turtle and that it should be coming. So I felt obliged to tell grandpa this and look what arrived tonight!
It really is a pretty awesome turtle. It covers any room with multi-colored stars and shuts itself off after 45 minutes. Zoe introduced her other favorite toys to the turtle and then they had a disco party. And then she fell asleep with it while I made dinner.

she blinded me with science
Zoe found a science experiment kit. For $5 it had quite a bit of possibility.
There were dye tabs to make colored water and then a lot of different packets of silica-type powders that absorbed water and turned into gels. I am going to start saving those little silica packets that come with new shoes. Who knew it could be so much fun?
Those tiny colored balls absorbed a lot of water!
We are hatching a dinosaur.
