Out for pizza

Last night we went out for pizza with Peter's Aunt Connie & Uncle Rick. It is super tasty! Zoe knows what food is and she's a little upset when you eat without her. I don't think she's quite ready for this, though. She would have you believe differently.

Spinach is fun!

Standing Baby

This is one of Zoe's favorite places in the house. One good thing about having crappy drawers in the kitchen is that they're hard to pull open. I'm pretty sure that these handles are going to become a little ladder though. She's already trying to get her feet up on the lower drawer pull.

in other news

My date palm has a new little leaf sprouting finally! Doug & I happened to watch a tv show about date farmers in California. As it turns out, date palms are pretty hard to grow. They are impossibly tall and their roots take up so much room nothing else can really grow around them. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. Maybe Doug has room for it in his yard.

new jacket!

Aunt Tammy bought Zoe a little denim jacket. It is super cute and fits perfectly! It was cold and rainy today after a hot & sunny morning [weird]. We all went out to lunch at Famous Dave's and then ran some errands. She didn't get to try the bbq but gnawed on some green beans.

all the dots

My embossed print with all of the dots is one of Zoe's favorites. It's covered with plexi here, so it's all good.

art night

There was a little reception at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute for Cornish students who had art chosen to be hung there. Some of my stuff from the BFA show is on there walls so we went to check it out. My friend Janie got Zoe to laugh quite a bit. The reception wasn't very exciting but it was good to get out of the house for awhile.

silly girl

in other news

The bike path behind our house is lined with blackberry bushes. The first crop is ripe now and if we get more sun & rain the other 2000 berries will hopefully come in the next couple of weeks. I've picked a couple of quarts so far. I'm just blending & straining the seeds out for some nice sauce. Blackberries are $4 a pint at the store, so it sure is nice having so many for free. The only thing I have to do is pick them before the neighbors get out there.

Shoes

Zoe loves my basket of shoes. When I think she's playing with something else but then it gets really quiet, I know that she's crawled around the corner to the shoes. She played with them for quite awhile this morning. So if you're wondering what kind of toys you should buy her, consider some women's shoes - size 8.

Standing Up

This is how I find Zoe after she wakes up. This rail on the crib is actually called a "teething bar" for good reason. She can stand pretty easily but it's the falling backwards & forwards and knocking her little head against the rails that isn't so great.

Zoe & Rowan

I tried to post this several weeks ago and it wouldn't work...

Rowan was born on Feb 20 and is exactly 2 months younger than Zoe. This was the first time that she was actually bigger than him. Last time they were the same height & weight.

Wall Art 2

I finished decorating Zoe's room! The painting on the wall is done, until I decide to add some little birds or something to the tree. I added the moon and some happy moths and a flower patch at the base of the tree. I also made some paper flower garlands that are hanging from the ceiling. They had some of these at The Paper Source and Zoe really liked them. I cut all of the flowers out at Doug's house and strung them on the ribbon when we got home. I think they're really sweet.

All over the place

Now that Zoe can crawl and sit she can also pull herself up to standing. She's really good at grabbing things and pulling things out of other things. The bottom shelf of her changing table is filled with safe toys & books for her to fling about. It's really hard to keep an eye on her now since we're not used to having her move around so quickly. She's really good at catching herself when she falls over, but has had lots of head bumps [still no bruises!]. I don't feel like there's enough to do around the house, although she can play with my shoes forever. I know she likes to see other kids and new places so we're definitely investing in that YMCA membership very soon.

The Crawl

While in Missouri, Uncle John got Zoe to take a couple of shaky crawl-steps toward his cell phone. On Tuesday night, Pete was able to get Zoe to crawl toward my cell phone and after that she's been moving around the house quite a bit [yikes!]. Today she followed me out of her bedroom because I left for a minute to go to the bathroom. In this video, she's going for the phone, but really won't put up with Pete moving it away from her. Smart girl. You also get to see her sit up on her own. She's starting to pull herself up, too - but not fully standing... yet. And she's reading at a 5th grade level!

Dinnertime

Uncle Doug bought Zoe these little "spoons" that she can hold herself. They definitely help spread her baby food around. She's enjoying some rice cereal and pears here. Now that she can sit up by herself [a recent development], she's ready for '2nd foods'. Still no teeth though, so we're a long way from corn dogs. There's a little bit of ankle twirling here, too!

We're home!

Zoe & I made it home safely from our Missouri trip. It was great to be able to spend so much time with everyone. Once I get a good nap and have time to look through our pictures I'll add a gallery of our MO photos. Today we are taking it easy, doing laundry, catching up on Project Runway and making a list for the grocery store.
This is a picture of Zoe rubbing the lucky nose on the Plaza. Isn't she so cute in her capris? It was a super hot day. Don't worry, her pasty white skin is slathered in baby sunscreen.
